ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position of Benefits Administrator includes the preparation of payrolls and related reports for employees. A degree of confidentiality must be maintained by the position. A listing of job responsibilities follows:
1. Complete knowledge of the health insurance program including rules and regulations, claim processing,
enrollments and other items related to employee benefits.
A general knowledge of the following is also necessary:
- all salary schedules and negotiated agreements
- salary protection coverage and how to complete the employer portion of the required forms
- option period meetings and changes
2. Assists with coordination of the Section 125 enrollment and verification that all employees have completed the
enrollment as well as new employee benefit options
3. Maintains EGID enrollment for all participating employees, making necessary updates when required, and
distributing COBRA packets to all termed employees and/or aged out dependents.
4. Oversees FMLA processes to ensure district compliance including proper documentation and communication
between employee and district. Works with site leave clerks to ensure that all qualifying employees submit the
appropriate paperwork, and collaborates with the Payroll office to ensure timely submission of state paid maternity
leave forms.
5. Manages all Leave of Absence requests. Mails intent notifications for upcoming school year to employees on
Leave of Absence as directed under district negotiated agreements.
6. Manages district donated leave program.
7. Assists district staff transitioning from active to retired status. Provides guidance regarding state insurance options,
after-tax deductions, and district leave transfer/payout policies.
8. Collaborates with Payroll office to facilitate 1095 distribution and filing, as well as ensure IRS requirements and
timelines are met.
9. Coordinates deductions with the Leave Specialist and Payroll Coordinator when necessary.
10. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Personnel and Assistant Superintendent of Human
Resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
